Much Like Rihanna sings about in Work from her album Anti – it seems all the singer does is work, work, work, work, work. It’s certainly paid off for the star though, as Rihanna has just surpassed Madonna to become the richest female musician. According to Forbes, Rihanna has an estimate net worth of around $600 million.
It’s impressive that she was able to overtake Madonna – who is estimated to be worth $570 million – given that Madonna has been in the game for twice as long as Rihanna has. This is in thanks due to Rihanna investing in more than just music. It’s fair to say that a good portion of her wealth comes from her fashion career. Her luxury line with LVMH in particular has helped her earn that top spot. The line hasn’t even been launched yet, but Rihanna has flaunted some pieces from the debut collection by wearing them in public. This is to say nothing of her Fenty Beauty brand, which brought in some $570 million in sales last year, which is truly impressive for a brand launched in September 2017.
The news about Rihanna and her wealth wasn’t revealed as part of a list of the top-paid musicians.
Last year she was beaten to that spot by Katy Perry, who was worth $83 million thanks to being an American Idol judge. Rihanna was said to be seventh in that list, bring in $37.5 million in 2018. It’s wild to think that the richest female in music this year wasn’t even in the top-five of highest paid female musicians last year. Though maybe you should take Forbes and their calculations with a grain of salt. These are the people who told us that Kylie Jenner was a “self-made” billionaire.
Coincidentally – or perhaps not so coincidentally – Forbes revealed their annual list of the Richest Self Made Women in America with some “self-made” scores. Jenner, who grabbed the top spot with an estimated worth of a billion dollars, reached number seven in this department, along with her sister Kim Kardashian. Kim is worth an estimated $360 million, putting her in the same position as her rival Taylor Swift, who are under Beyoncé and Rihanna in the music department. Queen Bey is worth around $400 million and has a self-made score of eight.
Serena Williams earned a self-made score of nine, putting her second behind Rihanna, with a self-made score of 10. This latest list also means that Serena Williams has become the first athlete on the Forbes’ list of Richest Self-Made Women with her estimated net worth of $225 million.
Of course, one should never forget that Forbes doesn’t have total access to anyone’s financial records. All of their numbers are nothing but estimates.
